Hospital Policies

Here at Taunton Animal Hospitalour goal is to provide high-quality medical care for your pet in a timely manner. Due to high appointment demand, missed or late appointments can delay care for other patients. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us stay on schedule.​

We offer automated reminders via phone, text and email; however, it remains the clients responsibility to keep track of scheduled appointments.

Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR)

All sick exams, diagnostics, and treatments require an active VCPR, meaning your pet must have been physically examined by a Taunton Animal Hospital veterinarian within the past 12 months (or more frequently based on needs).

Rescheduling & Cancellations

  • We require at least 24 hours' notice for all cancellations or rescheduled appointments

  • Please call our office to cancel or reschedule

  • Do NOT cancel via email or text, as these are not always monitored

Late Arrivals

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late without prior notice:

  • Your pet may not be seen that day

  • You may need to reschedule for a future appointment

No-Show Policy

A no-show is defined as missing an appointment without notifying us.

  • Missed appointments are recorded in your pets medical record

  • Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) are considered no-shows

Repeated No-Shows:

  • 2 no-shows: A deposit will be required to book future appointments

  • Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable for same-day cancellations or reschedules

  • 3 no-shows: We may terminate the veterinarian-client-patient relationship

New Client Appointments

A non-refundable prepayment (equal to the exam fee) is required when scheduling. If you miss your appointment without notice:

  • You may be removed from our client list

  • Future booking may not be available

Prescription Refill Policy

  • Please allow 24 hours' notice for all prescription refill requests

  • ​Many medications can be prepared in advance and placed in our client pick-up box (located on our front stairs) for convenient pickup
